9 reasons why a sibling makes your life better

8. With him, you don’t have to pretend.

A sibling knows you. He may not always understand you, but he knows you.

She has seen you at your best and at your worst, so there is no point in you trying to play any kind of role.

You’re so familiar with each other that every now and then you wish your sibling would be just a little bit more hospitable and not always dump all the bad stuff on you in the first minute.

But then again, she’s your sister, so go for it.

9. A sibling doesn’t leave.

A sister or brother is a person in front of whom you’ve behaved really idiotically.

Chances are, when you were little, you either threw a little car or Legos at him or her. Or you may have bitten, scratched, called her stupid and taken many toys from her hand.

You forgave each other for all that when you were little, you were a couple. You two against the adults, you two against the world.

You attacked each other to defend each other when the other was bullied and you lay under the same blanket watching TV on Saturday nights. You still remember each other’s soft toys by name, even if no one else does.

Thanks to your sister, you know you’re never alone in the world. Even if you’re more distant at times, you can be sure that when the going gets tough, she won’t leave.
