If you make a habit of sauna regularly, the sauna will probably help you catch up on sleep. If you only take a sauna once in a while, the opposite can happen: the harsh sauna baths can shock your body so much that you can’t sleep.
Here again, sauna and exercise work in the same way. Both should be done regularly, preferably a few hours before bedtime. You often feel refreshed immediately after sauna and exercise, but once your body has cooled down, you start to feel drowsy.
6 Soften your skin
A sauna is good for your skin, at least for most people. The skin is refreshed, its function improves and, after sweating, dead skin cells are sloughed off when you wash.
«Especially in psoriasis, taking a sauna can be beneficial,» says Jari Laukkanen.
But not everything is for everyone. Sometimes atopic skin can become even more irritated in the bath. In that case, it’s best to avoid taking a sauna.
