3. Invest in shoes.
When on holiday, go for low-heeled walking shoes that fit your feet well. Shoes that are flexible at the heel allow you to walk on a wide range of surfaces.
For long car and train journeys and flights, it’s a good idea to have light and roomy shoes. They have enough room to move your toes and contract your foot muscles. Swelling can vary throughout the day, so shoes with adjustable straps are also a good option.
4. Throw your feet up against the wall…
While exercise stimulates circulation and gets the fluids moving, it’s also a holiday to rest! You can relieve swelling in your legs by lying down and putting your feet up. Keep your feet elevated for 30 minutes and then flex and extend your ankles at a brisk pace. Swelling can also be relieved by massaging the lower legs and feet.
