Swelling of the feet is a common complaint in the summer months, whatever your age or fitness level. Swelling is the result of impaired function of the venous valves and fluid build-up in the tissues of the feet.

Swelling can be caused by venous insufficiency or other conditions, but mild swelling can also occur in people with healthy veins.
