7. Bachok
Another great local beach is Pantai Bisikan Bayu («beach of whispering breeze»), which gets its name because of the rustling sound of the shoreline trees here. A favorite for surfers, this beach is busier than Pantai Irama but also surrounded by more attractions, including museums, the Istana Balai Besar palace, and a number of nature walks. Not far away, there’s also Pantai Cahaya Bulan («moonlight beach»), a favorite with families for its clear blue waters and great sunsets.
8. Tanjung Bungah
Not far from George Town on Penang Island, this is considered one of the main beach destinations for those looking for an active holiday. Whether you want to jet ski, kayak through the islands, parasail, or try scuba diving and snorkeling in a chill atmosphere, Tanjung Bungah is the beach to beat.
